Ocean Network Express is mulling an order for up to a dozen large container ships costing more than $2.5bn.
Shipbuilding sources said Singapore-based ONE is finalising a contract with a South Korean shipyard for eight firm dual-fuel, 16,000-teu vessels, with an option of four more.
Shipbrokers suggest the liner giant will pay about $220m per ship.
