Shipowners and operators still need to exercise extreme caution in the Red Sea after the Houthis threatened to retaliate against US airstrikes, marine insurers have warned.

The Trump administration has launched a series of raids on Houthi targets, even though the Yemeni rebels have not attacked a commercial ship since December 2024. The US action included a strike on the port of Ras Isa to stem the flow of oil imports.
